Dulux Colour Forecast

Flourish
The Flourish palette speaks to our newfound sense of adventure and passion for life. It features a mix of sensual hues such as petrol blue, desert red and dusty rose alongside warm neutrals and a pop of vintage gold.

Restore
The Restore palette consists of gentle, earth-based neutrals alongside more rugged, natural tones. These colours recede and do not demand attention, instead they allow us the space to step back and soothe our senses.

Wonder
The wonder palette reflects our desire to be less serious and welcome fun back into our lives. Colours are playful, summery and 80s-inspired. Together they create a dreamy and sentimental feel.

Trends to embrace in 2022
Nature inspired Design
This is one of the main interior trends throughout 2021 and heading into 2022. The most popular textures are stone, marble, granite, and wood. These materials are used in the decoration and furniture in homes and are especially good as accents. Whether it is wood panelling on the wall or a natural stone effect. Light wood furniture is at its peak as well as coffee tables with a stone top.

Rounded Shapes
Paying attention to tables, lamps, sofas, and mirrors, almost all designer furniture is rounded. Even the chairs and stools are showing a softened body rather than a straight structure.
Retro Revival
Whether it is fashion, music or home design, all trends tend to repeat themselves as the decades roll by. Even the trends you thought would disappear forever. Retro trends are making their way back in 2022. Velvet, rattan, curved furniture and even some popular retro colours!
If you are looking to update your interior this trend could do the trick! Adding a few retro colours, materials or small pieces will do the trick! Dulux Wonder palette has a mix of bright colours just like the common ‘70s colours!

Pet Friendly Spaces
Two years ago Merino Homes Katie and Em spent an afternoon with Doctor Harry Cooper to get his opinion on what people should do when building their Fur-ever Homes! We spoke about the best flooring to have with pets, backyard sizes and best pets for kids! After this chat with Dr Harry, we went to work putting together a blog and a Pinterest board filled with pet friendly spaces dedicated to Fur Families! We found some great inspiration with feeding spaces in kitchen islands, pet rooms and even storage for all your fury friends belongings! Head over and check out our blog and Pinterest page for your home!
Kitchen trends
Timber Touches
Looking for ways to bring the outdoors in, timber touches have become a favourite over the years. Although most people look to cabinetry first to bring timber touches into their kitchen, it can work in a lot of ways whether it is a small pop of timber or a big feature piece. Timber shelving, cabinet doors make a statement whereas, wooden stools or timber handles are a nice subtle touch to your home.

The return of colour
People are looking for ways to bring a sense of joy and excitement back into their lives after the year we have had. As we can see in the colours of the year from Dulux and Pantone, colour is coming back, whether it be coloured cabinetry or a pop of colour through your appliances. Em in Merino homes office has a favourite-coloured kitchen in Laminex Spinifex! Katie and Em made a spinifex colour guide for a client and fell in love!
Mesh Cabinetry
Merino Homes beat this trend to it! Using wired mesh on one of our client’s wine cabinets in the Southern Highlands we were amazed of how good it looked paired with two small brass handles and a pop of colour in the blue cabinetry!

Office Gossip on the trends of 2022
With Katie and Em

Em’s gossip
I am so excited about the return of colour! Ever since the Laminex Spinifex was released, over the last three years it has really been my favourite colour! Katies always telling me off when I flood our design briefs with Spinifex kitchens as an option when our clients want an all-white home! I was so excited when one of our clients finally picked this colour for their kitchen renovation! It really was a huge change to their Highlands Home!
Katie’s gossip
Pantone often pick a colour that is on trend but not necessarily stand the test of time. For 2022 this is the case. if you’re want to modernise the space you live in then i would recommend implementing this colour into your home through replaceable items such as, cushions, lounges and artworks. To get the maximum out of the “very peri” colour compliment it with yellows, oranges, mustards and for a more classic touch the royal blues and greens.
In all the colours of 2022 seem to be like an exciting time, we have really steered away from the all-white spaces and are embracing a nice pop of colour!
